International economic cooperation of Armenia and Ukraine
Because of disintegration of Soviet Union, findings of independence the former allied republics, unfortunately, violated also present political and economic svyazy, that, unfortunately, to be reflected on the rates of development of relations between the novoobrazovavshymysya states. Though and it would be incorrect to characterize it as cooling of relations, but certain difficulties arose up and as between two by our countries. However passing after finding of independence a decade passed under the sign of bilateral efforts of republics, including Armenia and Ukraine, on renewal of close svyazey present in the past. Fortunately, today we can establish already, that this most difficult transitional period remained behind.
The XXI eyelids open before our countries and people new possibilities for further expansion and deepening of армяно-Ukrainian collaboration, based on traditions of veritable friendship the sources of which ascend to XI age. Last years concrete mutual steps are already done in this direction. A good dogovorno-pravovaya base counting about 60 intergovernmental and intergovernmental agreements is formed. 14th May, 1996 between the Republic Armenia and Ukraine Agreement is signed “About friendship and collaboration”, which determines the political vector of our relations. Maybe, that good foundation is stopped up, and I think that we must continue this process, activate our vzaymootnoshenyya, do more frequent our visits and business contacts. From this point of view sure that the present visit of delegation of Armenia will become another important step in development of our bilateral relations.
For Armenia and Ukraine there are the very real prospects of collaboration both in area of foreign policy and in the field of trades and economic relations. In behalf of strengthening of world and stability both in regional one and in global scales our countries can deepen structural foreign-policy co-operation on bilateral and multilateral basis within the framework of UNO, OBSE, CIS and other international and regional organizations and forums. We consider that are priorities directions of foreign policy of our countries Eurointegration, combination of this course with effective collaboration with the countries of CIS and foremost with Russia, strengthening and development of partnership with the USA. We can carry out more intensive and co-ordinated joint work in the European structures, to be exchanged by experience and information, to protect interests of each other.
With respect to activation of bilateral trades and economic relations, the Армяно-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission on the questions of economic collaboration must be instrumental in it, the next, third meeting of which took place during our present visit. The wide circle of questions touching the trades and economic relations between our countries was considered. On results meeting the proper protocol is signed.
Today Armenia and Ukraine is seriously interested in further expansion deepening of bilateral trades and economic relations. It is the evident example of it circumstance that on results the first quarter 2004 years a value external of trade between Armenia and Ukraine grew in two times. We mark thus, that in spite of such positive dynamics of our foreign trades relations, their level yet falls short of to economic potential of our countries. I think that we have the real prospects for development of collaboration, in particular, in industry, energy, transport and agriculture.
